Some Book News!

Roaring Brook Press (MacMillan) will be publishing my children's book! I've been working on this for the past few months, and it's been fun. It's about a little girl who desperately wants a kitty :)

In addition, there will be second collection of Cat vs Human comics, and it will be published by Andrews McMeel, who also published my first CvsH collection.

This image is from one of my Kitten Nightmares comics.

I'm super excited and grateful. Both books will be released in Fall, 2013!

Again, many many thanks to everyone who has visited my blog, read my comics, shared your cat photos, and shown support.

Oscar says hello :3 He likes to hang out in the laundry basket.

My #1 cause of back problems.

And you don't want to wake them up because:
a.) It's a precious moment.
b.) Once they're awake, they're awake.

Okay, giveaway time!

I'll be giving away 2 things:
a.) A signed Cat Versus Human book (It's at it's second printing, by the way--THANK YOU!)
b.) A drawing of you and your kitty.

For example, this is my Aunt and her kitty Ariel.

It is based off this picture:

Squee! She is an animator/storyboard artist for cartoons like Futurama, Ren & Stimpy, Spongebob, etc...She is also the cat lady of the family.

Anyway, to enter, just comment below and tell me why you love your kitty. I will announce the winner in my next comic post this Friday. Winner will be picked randomly!

One entry per person please.

One more thing, everything in my print shop will be sold discounted at Fab.com tomorrow (Thursday)! My print shop will be closed for now. I'll post more details of the sale in my Facebook Page when it's up.

------

Again, a HUGE thanks to everyone! It's been a great 2 years :)

We're kicking off the CvsH book signing in my neck of the woods--in SF Bay!

I'll be doing a mini talk on comics and blogging, giving away free stuff, and signing books! Yay!

First event will be at Books Inc. in Alameda, CA, at 7pm. Feel free to invite yourself by RSVP-ing above.

See you there!

p.s. I have an event in San Francisco and Phoenix as well, just an FYI. These are TBA.
It's been a bit over 8 months since I started Cat Vs Human. What started out as a doodle of my cats turned into a blog, which, I can now say, will turn into a book! I am SO thrilled to announce that Andrews McMeel will be publishing Cat Versus Human, which will be released in Fall 2011!

This was me when I found out.

Do you like my Unisaur? It is a cross between a unicorn and a saur.

I'll post more updates as things develop!

Gosh, I also want to say thank you to everyone who has been so supportive. It's always nice to "meet" fellow cat ladies and gents. You're awesome!

There's something about bookends

1930's bookends from vintagespecial on etsy

There's something about bookends that conveys to me the coziness and protective grounds of a proper home.
The time spent with the books not only to read them but to look after them surely must show for a soundness of character.
The sheer exhilaration of plunging in world after world other than your own (oh how I could write hymns to escapism) only comes once one has taken firm steps to lock outside the crazy pace of what we overrate as reality. Then comes the quiet happiness of showcasing them, these soul and mind feeders. It's a way to delimitate a personal corner that shows a certain degree of self respect. Or so I imagine.
Needless to say I'm lacking bookends in my life altogether.
