Cats & Babies
Many people still think that cats smother new born [human] babies, and thus avoid having a cat around when they are getting ready to welcome a new baby. People should rather worry about their cats getting used to their new baby and help them do so, than reject the cat completly.
If you find the cat near your baby's head, it's not sucking its breathe as the myth goes, the poor feline is just seeking some warmth. So instead of chasing the cat, make sure you keep it clean and trimmed, with no fleas nor worms, just for precaution's sake. Let your cat get used to your baby's scent.
If it happens that your cat scratches your baby, it's only an accident. A baby's movements may happen to catch a cat by surprise, and make it feel attacked. A normal cat's reaction is defensive making thus that your baby gets scratched.
